The Rainbow Foundation takes to the streets of London to raise awareness and vital funds for the charity.
1 in 10 older people are lonely, 50 % of adults over 50 are living with a chronic illness, and 1 in 4 struggles with their mental health each year. Dementia is on the rise, and care is in crisis.
In response The Rainbow Foundation – local Wrexham active ageing charity – is working hard to directly respond to these challenges. Through their day opportunities and home care service they are providing care closer to home, effectively tackling loneliness and supporting people to live independently.
Before retiring Margaret worked as a schoolteacher. After losing her husband 11 years ago, Margaret suffered two strokes which meant she had to give up driving and was left housebound. Margaret became incredibly lonely and isolated. Margaret now comes to The Rainbow Foundation via their community transport and enjoys days filled with company and laughter

This much-needed accessible transport service enables those most in need to reach one of The Rainbow Foundations three care hubs in Penley, Marchwiel and Chirk. Something that would not be possible without support from sponsors and fundraisers which is why Chief Officer Caroline Tudor-James is set to take on the streets of London this weekend, running the London Parks Half Marathon on behalf of the Foundation.
Caroline says “It’s no secret that care is in crisis and the pressures on the NHS and local care services are only set to increase as we enter the winter months. Every penny raised to support our charitable efforts is one step closer to helping even more people in our local communities. Which is why we are asking everyone to join this cause, as the more we come together, the stronger our impact will be.”
Caroline will be running the London Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 8th October and you can find out more on her Just Giving Page at: https://www.justgiving.com/page/caroline-tudor-james-1695714647102
