Rainbow Foundation Celebrates CEO’s Buckingham Palace Invitation with Afternoon Tea and a New Era of Excellence

Clients of the Rainbow Foundation’s Day Opportunities service gathered for a special afternoon tea this week, celebrating CEO Caroline Tudor-James’ prestigious invitation to Buckingham Palace’s Garden Party. Caroline attended the garden party alongside her mother, Abigal Tudor, who served as the founding Centre Manager for its first two decades before retiring in 2014. The event marked a significant milestone for the Foundation as it officially launches as an Ageing Well Centre of Excellence for Wales.

Supporting over 3,000 people each year, the Foundations holistic model includes comprehensive support under one roof at each of their hubs, and a range of outreach programmes and services embedded in the wider community. Providing rehabilitation, therapy, care and support, information, advice and activities to empower independence, enhance wellbeing and enrich lives. This initiative aligns with Wales’ broader strategy to empower older adults and combat loneliness, reinforcing the Foundation’s role as a leader in ageing well initiatives.

The afternoon tea was a fitting tribute to Caroline Tudor-James, whose leadership has championed the rights and dignity of older people across Wales. Her attendance at Buckingham Palace underscores the Foundation’s commitment to excellence and recognition at the highest levels.

Caroline Tudor-James expressed her gratitude, stating, “It was a privilege to represent the Rainbow Foundation at Buckingham Palace, but the real celebration is here, with our clients. Their resilience and community spirit inspires everything we do. As we step into this new chapter as Wales’ Ageing Well Centre of Excellence, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring older people live fulfilling, connected lives.”
