With one in four individuals experiencing mental health challenges, the Rainbow Foundation is delighted to announce that its Enhanced Social Prescribing service, based in GP practices across Wrexham, has been awarded the title of Best Mental Health Support Service at the Mental Health and Wellbeing Wales Awards. This recognition highlights the team’s impactful work in providing talking therapy and tailored mental health support to individuals and communities.
The announcement comes as the Rainbow Foundation marks Social Prescribing Day on March 19th, a nationwide event celebrating the profound impact of social prescribing on health and wellbeing. Over the past year, the Rainbow Foundation’s Enhanced Social Prescribing team has supported hundreds of individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including bereavement, menopause, housing difficulties, and pain management—factors that all significantly influence mental health.

Ian Pope, Director of Operations at the Rainbow Foundation, commented: “We were among some truly outstanding organisations, and it’s an honour to receive this award, which reflects the hard work and dedication of our team in supporting mental health and wellbeing across Wrexham.”
Organised by The Ajuda Foundation, the Mental Health & Wellbeing Wales Awards celebrate individuals and organisations that go above and beyond in promoting positive mental health. These awards aim to create Mental Health Champions who can lead conversations on this important yet often challenging topic.
Lisa White, Lead Social Prescriber, added: “We are committed to making a real difference through our Enhanced Social Prescribing service, which focuses on what truly matters to individuals. By empowering people to take control of their health and wellbeing, we strive to bring meaningful change to their lives.”
The Enhanced Social Prescribing service is a free, Wrexham-wide initiative available to anyone aged over 18 and can be accessed through GP surgeries. The team encourages anyone struggling with their mental health to contact their GP for a referral today.
